IBAI4DS

This is an industrial research project in the field of advanced digital technologies, focused on developing capabilities for the intelligent and automated management of digital services. The project investigates the use of Intent Based Management techniques to achieve zero-touch resource and service management—that is, fully automated—in order to accelerate the creation and deployment of next-generation digital services.

IBAI4DS addresses four major lines of research:

• Abstraction and standardisation of service and resource management, aimed at unifying and simplifying orchestration and management processes, promoting interoperability between different platforms and providers.
• Closed Loop Automation, which allows for dynamic decision-making and system adaptation based on monitored metrics and KPIs, integrating artificial intelligence techniques.
• Intent Based Interfaces, which facilitate the interaction of users and developers with autonomous systems by defining declarative objectives instead of imperative actions, simplifying the management of complex digital services.
• Application to the Edge Computing environment, in collaboration with the University of Vigo, to evaluate the viability of these techniques in distributed environments with low latency and high-performance demands.

The project is coordinated by Optare Solutions and is carried out in collaboration with the University of Vigo. Its execution runs from May 2023 to December 2025.

The final goal of IBAI4DS is to advance towards the concept of an autonomous digital service operator, capable of managing and deploying services in an agile, standardised manner with minimal human intervention. This will allow companies in the ICT sector and SMEs within the ecosystem to improve their competitiveness through the adoption of disruptive technologies based on artificial intelligence, automation, and edge computing.
