Machine Generated Data Analytics
MAGDA
PMAGDA is an R&D project funded by the Center for Technological Development (CDTI) with file number ITC-20151176, through the Innterconecta subsidy call of 2015. The objective of the project is to develop a prototype of an integrated Big Data platform that enables real-time analytics, applicable to areas such as Process Mining, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and more. The project is led by Optare Solutions, with Seidory Ednon and support from Gradiant as the research body.
The term Machine-Generated Data refers to data formed by discrete events automatically generated from a computer process, application, or other machine without human intervention. Common types of machine-generated data include data generated by computers, networks, or other IT equipment logs, sensor readings within the Internet of Things (IoT) context, or even device location data. In general, these data can be generated solely by processes running autonomously on different machines (known as Machine-to-Machine or M2M processes) or by observing human-machine interactions, but never by data provided directly by humans.
Machine-generated data can be structured or unstructured, but its variety makes it difficult to manage using traditional monitoring and analysis tools. Additionally, the speed at which these data are produced and their volume, being generated in real-time, requires innovative Big Data solutions suitable for analyzing such data in real time. The MAGDA project aims to develop a prototype of an integrated Big Data platform capable of performing real-time data actions such as storage, aggregation, interpretation, querying, analysis, visualization, and integration of machine-generated data.
Optare Solutions’ role in this project is to develop the prototype for the integrated Big Data platform. This platform will perform the following operations:
- Efficiently store multi-structured machine-generated data.
- Aggregate and interpret this data for unified querying based on different criteria.
- Analyze the data based on defined objectives.
- Visualize and integrate the analysis results to generate appropriate actions for business processes.
Optare will include a proof of concept related to the monitoring and analysis of business IT processes.
For the realization of the MAGDA project, Optare Solutions S.L. has been granted a subsidy under the order of September 30, 2013, establishing the regulatory bases for the competitive granting of public aid under the State Program for Scientific and Technical Research, Development, and Innovation, in the framework of the 2013-2016 State Plan for Scientific and Technical Research and Innovation, aimed at fostering regional cooperation in R&D. The subsidy granted amounts to €519,999, distributed over three years (2015: €124,715, 2016: €209,742, and 2017: €186,082).
