From Orchestration to Autonomous Network Management. A strategic roadmap to network automation.

This white paper addresses the challenge of operational complexity in telecommunications, characterized by fragmented systems, low automation, and the resulting cost increase and customer experience degradation. It argues that the path to efficiency is not through siloed automation but through a unified orchestration strategy. Orchestration, particularly Intent-Based Orchestration, unifies the business vision with the network reality. The next strategic milestone is autonomy, driven by Artificial Intelligence (AI) and data. AI enables autonomy through agents that make dynamic decisions and closed loops of “observe, analyse, decide, and execute”. This requires establishing a Single Source of Truth (SSoT) and Digital Twin Networks (DTNs). The document recommends a gradual adoption, focusing on high-value use cases with a clear roadmap, emphasizing that orchestration is the foundation and AI is the brain of the autonomous network of the future.
