MEDEVA

MEDEVA is an R&D project funded by the Center for Technological Development and Innovation (CDTI) with file number MEl. The main objective of the MEDEVA project is to properly integrate Mobility as a Service (MaaS) services with fleets of electric vehicles, relying on advanced technologies such as 5G, Edge Computing, and intelligent digital platforms. This will allow for the digitalization of the intermodal transport environment, offering innovative services that facilitate the efficient use and booking of electric vehicles in the last mile context. Additionally, the project aims to standardize and store valuable data on routes, user satisfaction, and visited locations, generating benefits for both transport operators and the tourism industry, all aligned with energy sustainability and the reduction of CO2 emissions.

To achieve this, MEDEVA proposes the deployment of high-density 5G infrastructures optimized for indoor environments, such as parking lots and buildings, addressing specific challenges such as handover management and integration of different frequency bands. Moreover, the information generated will be processed and managed using blockchain to ensure data integrity and accessibility, facilitating interaction between platforms and improving the user experience. This approach will be complemented by the development of artificial intelligence algorithms and the use of renewable energy and circular economy solutions, optimizing both vehicle charging and the traceability of the energy used.

In the field of intermodality, the project envisions a secure platform that integrates the availability of electric vehicles, standardizes interfaces, and collects enriched user data to improve transportation services. These capabilities will enable MEDEVA to offer analysis and planning tools for both operators and planners, generating a marketplace for the standardization, digitalization, and electrification of rental vehicles. The project aims to overcome governance, security, and data homogenization challenges, driving sustainability, innovation, and competitiveness in intermodal transport and smart cities.
