“Looking at our long expertise in Spain, and our successful projects in Latin America during the last two years, it’s now time to do something about the European market”, said Luis Alves, CEO of Optare Solutions last May. Business development in Europe has become one of the priorities for Optare and to begin with, a new colleague has joined the team in September, Eva Endress.
Besides her 15-years experience in the Telecommunications’ industry, her truly international background will help Optare to attract new customers and partners in Spain’s ‘nearer neighborhood’ (compared to Latin America) in her role as Sales Representative in Europe. “I can see that you still struggle a bit with the past tense of the subjunctive when you speak Spanish”, joked Luis when Eva first came to Vigo to celebrate her incorporation. Even though her name doesn’t reveal it, she is actually German, lived and worked ten years in Paris (France) and moved to Madrid seven years ago. Before joining Optare she was part of technical consultancy and sales teams at Siemens, NSN and CSG International.
We are very optimistic about the European market. Many of the CSPs go through major transformation projects, mainly in the BSS and OSS area. They tune up their network and systems to be able to be more agile and offer digital services, in a fast and flexible way, which seem to be the key revenue boosters in the near future. Experts in both, technical analysts as well as strategic partners are needed more than ever. Optare provides both, and major CSPs such as Vodafone, SKY-Televisa or R Cable, as well as SI and Software Vendors such as IBM, Oracle or Accenture, have witnessed Optare’s exceptional expertise. Hiring Eva was only our first step up to the new goal of establishing a larger footprint in Europe.
Outside work, “the bicycle will be difficult but at least my running shoes I’ll take with me when I visit customers”, confirms Eva who is not a great but passionate triathlete as she confesses. As a more curious hobby, she is member of a non-profit organization called “Toastmasters” where she participates in competitions of public speaking. “Isn’t that what innovation is all about”, she says with a smile, “mixing your skills to create something new: While swimming, I prepare entire sales pitches for my next customer meetings based on the methods I’ve learned at Toastmasters.”
